The magic cauldron was said to bring fallen warriors back to life intact, except they were mute. Here is a fallen warrior, pictish, hair dyed with lye, being reborn.

This is for the totems and objects challenge. Hope you like!

The symbols and painted face are great, love the expression behind it.

A wee bit l had found out last year in Wales...In Welsh lore, Cerridwen’s cauldron, Amen, bestowed knowledge and inspiration. Bran the Blessed had the Cauldron of Rebirth which resurrected slain warriors. On the Gundestrup cauldron, a Celtic horned God popularly believed to be Cernunnos, is depicted being reborn after having been torn apart and boiled in a cauldron.

Have a lovely day, Jan

I am a history geek. I think that the Gundestrp cauldron is one of the most interesting things anyone has ever found in a bog, tortured and ritually killed Celtic people aside. And I would love to know about the Persian imagery and how that came to Denmark.

The contest I made the picture for was 'Totems and Mysterious Objects'. I had just started reading up on Celtic lore at the time and Bran's cauldron (well, honestly all cauldron lore) fascinates me. Some images just really resonate, and a mute warrior being reborn from a cauldron is fascinating. What an image for the mind!
